| | | Everything for Parents on the Go including Four Paws Pet Stroller | myLot Discussions| WARNING! Four Paws Pimple Ball Poses Dangers to Pets! | | I received this warning from a Vet friend of mine this is just terrible what a toy can do to your pet. I think this could happen with any type of rubber ball. Since reading this I have trashed a couple of rubber balls that my dogs had. Will you take a chance or get rid any toy that could cause a vacuum?
This has been verified by snopes.
http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/pimpleball.aspOn Sunday, June 22, 2008 my 10-year old lab mix, Chai, sustained a severe injury from a product that the company Four Paws Inc, produces. The toy I’m referencing is the pimple ball with bell. (Item #20227-001, UPC Code 0 4566320227 9)
While chewing on the toy, a vacuum was created and it effectively sucked his tongue into the hole in the ball. From speaking with my vet, this likely occurred because there is not a second hole in the ball preventing the vacuum effect from happening. I became aware of this when Chai approached a friend at my home whimpering with the ball in his mouth. She tried unsuccessfully to remove the ball but the tongue had swollen and could not be released.
Chai was taken to the Animal Medical Center (an emergency care facility in New...
| | Have you ever seen a rooster have six paws? | | Generally speaking, most average roosters have four paws a foot. But there is something special, for example, a man feed a rooster which own six paws a foot, do you think it is rare? Some old women said it is dangerous and it belong to God, so nobody could take it as a food to eat, or else, they will suffer a lot. Is it right? | |
| | Poor Cooper | | Our cat, Cooper, somehow managed to get into some poison in our new house. I don't know where or how he did it, and I don't know what it was. I feel awful about it too, like somehow it's our fault and we weren't careful enough. He got so thin that you could count the vertebrates in his spine. The insides of his ears turned yellow, as well as his eyes and his gums. He was so frail that he scarcely moved. He rarely ate and we had to 'force' him to drink water. It was so hard to deal with because for a while we had no way to get him to the vet.
Finally, we found some transportation and got him to the vet immediately. He ordered us to feed him liquified food every 4 hours and give him nausea medicine and antibiotics every 12 hours. The first 2 days of this were hard. Cooper fought and fought with the little strength he had. He'd clamp his jaws shut and push us away with all four paws. It was hard to force him to eat. Finally, after those first two grueling days, we found a way to feed him that suited him a little better. His strength is coming back and his eyes are turning back to their usual bright green.
The wait for Cooper's test results seemed to take forever and none of us...
| | Pet Parent’s Day Celebrates Dog Owners, what do you think? | | Pet owners who treat their cats and dogs like members of the family are being honored with a special day dedicated to them.
National Pet Parent’s Day on Sunday, April 26, marks the official day celebrating pet caregivers. The designation, made by Veterinary Pet Insurance (VPI) of Brea, Calif., recognizes those who are dedicated to scooping poop, dishing out kibble, throwing birthday parties for Maxie, and sharing a cramped bed with four paws, the company said.
While the months of May and June focus on mothers and fathers of human children, National Pet Parent’s Day sets aside a spring day for devoted pet parents. A recent survey by the American Animal Hospital Association reports that 83 percent of pet owners consider themselves their pet’s mom or dad, said Curtis Steinhoff, VPI spokesman.
“The fact that the majority of our policyholders emphatically consider their pets part of their family inspired us to create a day for the dedicated pet caregiver,” he said. Now my two cents, I knew and know a lot of people who only have pets at their home now, I think it is a good idea to celebrate them and their pets for they are family, and even when they are other family member, in...
| | Warning! Be Careful Of Certain Dog Toys! | | I just became aware of this story about a dog named Chai, whose owners had bought him a toy, known as the Pimple Ball with Bell (Item #20227-001, UPC Code 0 4566320227 9) manufactured by Four Paws Inc. Here we are, if you're a parent careful about what toys you might be buying your children, especially in lieu of the recent recalls of so many toys that had lead paint, which is toxic. But I bet none of us who have pets of ANY kind think of safety factors with toys for our pets until a disaster occurs....and one did with this dog, named Chai. The dog was playing with this "Pimple Ball", he was chewing on it and a hole formed in the ball. The dog's tongue got sucked into the hole and a vacuum effect was created...the dog's tongue couldn't be loosened by their owner. They had to take the dog to the vet where the ball was removed, however the dog's tongue continued to swell so much that the poor dog couldn't even keep it in his mouth...The vet had to amputate the tongue and the dog had to have a feeding tube inserted into his neck...for a long time Chai couldn't eat via his mouth. Now he's able to, but his owner has to feed him via a syringe tubeThe entire story is here... | |

| | The Sleepyhead Koala | | We always remember the greyish furred koalas wrapping their arms & legs around the trunks of eucalyptus trees. This sight of koalas is indeed very lovely.Meanwhile, u man wonder why we call a koala "the sleepyhead". Let's remind ourselves right away the koalas sleep 18 hours a day!The fore and hind paws of koalas enable them to spend a great part of thier lives on eucalyptus trees. This is the way Allah created their paws!Koalas can quickly climb trees with their long curled arms, & sharp claws & paws that hold tightly on to the trees. The 2 fingers of their fore-paws r separated from the other three. If we compare a human hand to theirs, then we must talk about two thumbs. These thumbs, which greatly differ from other fingers, help them to cling to small branches. Like a hook, koalas thrust their claws into trees & thus hold on to the soft and smooth surfaces of tree trunks. With they four paws, they can readily clutch branches, jus like we clutch a stick, and climb trees after they wrap their paws around their branches. These r what makes a koala's life on trees easy!Although koalas r known to b lazy, they can move very quickly on trees. They can... | |
